March

The students continue reflecting on the skills during the integrative thinking of the causal model. When working on a causal model the students are required to apply:
  • Self regulation/Character for Deep Learning: The responsibility for learning, to stay focused for listening, questions and communicating to add knowledge
  • Communication: listening and valuing ideas, building on others' ideas, reflecting and analyzing the communication as a team and considering multiple perspectives, maximizing diverse thinking, linking and analyzing my classmates knowledge of the varied sustainable goals.
  • Critical Thinking: Collectively thinking and sharing ideas throughout complex stakes and events and their causes. Keeping on asking "what causes thi/that?" linking causes and factors of the sustainable global goals
  • Collaboration of managing dynamics and applying the empathy process of listening, respecting all views and learning from others
  • Creativity: Asking questions that connects to the causes and factors to further inquire and challenge the thinking possibilities to world problems or issues.
During the discussions the students were recording their conversations and reflecting after about the process of integrative Thinking and the competencies.

The JEFF's and the System 2 Thinkers continue to explore empathy and perspectives on cultures and issues that are developing on inequalities and children's rights.

The JEFF's have read  an article about UNICEF and their contribution to children in Iraq. We applied a tool called Prism for highlight the empathy and the comprehension of the text. The tool demonstrated students' improvement of French.

Some teams have began inquiring and exploring about forces  on paper airplanes. We will be consolidating and unpacking inquiries as a class soon.

The System 2 Thinkers were very fortunate to connect online on Thursday March 2nd about "La Mission du Mars". The students were able to comprehend and take notes in French about the session. The JEFF's will have an opportunity to listen to the recording this week. The video is inserted below the images.

March 9th & 10th
The System 2 thinkers persevered in completing the causal models about causes and factors in relation to the GlobalSustainable Global Goals. The students have reflected on the competencies in relation to the process of the Integrative Thinking.

On March 10th we were fortunate to take part in the FNMI Educational Days. It was a very rich educational and cultural visit. The videos represent the experience and the learning.

March 21 & 22nd

The system 2 Thinkers and the JEFF's  began exploring the causes and factors of water pollution with the Firat Nation communities. The students watched reports and read about some First Nation communities about problems with water for 20 years. They also watched videos from United Nations about water waste. They had a visit with an Ottawa University engineer who shared with them the causes of the pollution and design of a water filter.

The students began with their ideas of designing water filters for the Frist Nation communities.  All Grade 6 students watched a hangout with Hangout with Dr. Michael Fox from Trent University about threats for Candian waters.

March 27

The JEFF's began exploring the forces that exert on an object to fly. we began with the change of air pressure in order to create the lift force.

The 2D Thinkers and the JEFF's are beginning to with sensors and applying them to problem solve for the sustainable global goals designs.
