November 1st

System 2Thinkers and The JEFF have completed their collaboration focusing on values of ideas, respect for communication, creativity and character. They have collected data and interpreted the data and concluded if their games were successful.

Both classes continue to upload all of their evidence to the blog to be shared with Grade 7 &8 students for feedback. You will also be asked to comment on the blog with your child.




November 2nd

System 2 Thinkers and the JEFF continue updating the blog about their process of learning skills and design. They have including a text explaining the game and a persuasive paragraph for their audience. The data was analyzed and students typed the conclusion about their game and any changes they would add if they were to rebuild the game. 



Nov 3rd

System 2 Thinkers and the JEFF have provoked their thinking about climate change and global warming by watching a video. The students analyzed the information in teams focusing on Communication skills and knowledge building by relying on each other's thinking. Both teams began exploring how energy impacts  political, economic and government decisions.


November 7th

Our focus continues to develop the critical thinking skills. System 2 Thinkers revisited the Pro Pro model of opposing ideas. The models are defined, then looking at connections, valuing each model then finding a solution that combines both ideas. We will continue completing the conclusion.

The JEFF had a busy afternoon thinking about energy. Their thinking was provoked by viewing on  twitter government initiatives on clean energy  The critical thinking continue to develop and the students are taking risks in analyzing and communicating their voices. Students in groups are unpacking more knowledge and understanding about energy and organizations for sustainability. 


November 8th

System 2 Thinkers developed through analytical discussions based on government grants on research and development for the environment Both classes continue to develop the understanding about economic, political and environmental impacts on the environment. 

The JEFF are still developing the Pro Pro model as a guided practice on opposing blocs for school schedule. The students are working on understanding the model and learning to focus and stay on task during small group discussions. 
November 9th & 10th

Both teams continued listening, analyzing and sketchnoting about global warming, climate change, solutions and many forms of for producing energy. They will begin their energy project next week. After a guided practice of a Prop Pro Model , the students finalized and designed a conclusion valuing both 3 blocks and 4 blocks schedule. 

The students connected online with the University of Calgary about wind power energy. On the same day, the students also connected with Hawaii about Satellites and imagery from space.

November 10th

The Grade 6 students lead the Remembrance Day ceremony. After the ceremony the students shared with the junior students their Remembrance Museum.



November 14th

The 2D System Thinkers had a chance to explore the Canadian battles on a giant map. The students explore the battles and pictures of WW1. The JEFF continued persevering with knowledge building by watching videos and sketchnoting their learning. They also shared their learning.


November 15th

The 3D Thinkers watched and discussed COP22 live from France. We hear President Holland's speech about developing countries and their contribution to climate change. The students also reflected and presented about their group videos on climate change. The purpose is science and building confidence in sharing orally.

The JEFF explored the giant map on WW1. Both teams are reviewing the application of French describing electricity and energy.


Nove 16th & 17th
The Grade 6 students took leadership with Mathlete with the whole school. 

Nov 21st &22nd

System 2  Thinkers and the Jeff  continue learning and exploring the effect of the production of energy. All students are improving at taking notes. We will continue exploring by connecting online with the Minister fo Energy and the Hangout about Carbon Tax.


I have been evaluating the process of electricity with the students. I have recorded a conversation once we have explored and determined grades on the rubric. The students will be sharing with you the rubric and the recording. You will be expected to comment on the rubric after students have shared the process of their learning.  I will be sending a remind about the information. 

November 24 & 25th
3D Thinkers had a chance to listen online today a live discussion about carbon tax. the Jeff will listen to the recorded video.
Both classes continue exploring French verbs at the present tense, researching on zero emission of CO2 energy and completing the project on Scratch about their community.
