October 3rd

System 2 Thinkers only had one block of French today. They reread the text of Terry Fox and confirmed the facts from the text prepared by the JEFF students. They left comments differentiating which fact confirm about Terry Fox being a Hero.



Both teams have explored Orange Day about Reconciliation of the Residential schools.

The JEFF took pictures and videos about their robots. They are learning to document about their understanding about Electricity and the skills acquired during the process of designing.

October 4th

System 2 Thinkers had more time today to explain how the motor works and how does the robot move. During the process of building and ideating the  students' skills were highlighted.


Some teams gave their robots a specific title and function. The present tense was applied to all of the verbs that relate to electricity.

The JEFF during 3rd block had a discussion about Cyberbullying ad internet safety. We will continue with the reflections tomorrow.
October 5th

System 2 Thinkers and The JEFF have completed their innovative robots. Both classes are focusing on explaining the science and the acquired skills on collaboration and creativity during the process.

The students also created Google slides including the video of their robot and reflecting on the electrical functions and the physical function of the robot's movements.  They also began reflecting on the skills on New Pedagogies For Deep Learning dimensions and progressions.

Some students began drawing their own individual idea of what their arcade cardboard game might look like. They will be combining their games by focusing on valuing each other's ideas and combining them to create one game.

October 6

System 2 Thinkers and The JEFF are focusing on valuing their innovation and meshing up with another classmate valuable idea producing a new arcade game. During the discussions, they are focusing on open-ended conversations. The students were able to come up with one game among mixed teams. They began planning their games and materials that are required to start cutting and putting them together.


October 11th

The System 2 Thinkers in teams reviewed the present tense, some screencastified the benefits of mixing their ideas to create one game. Some teams also started to visualize their games by creating prototypes. Also, some teams gave commented on the blogs. 

The jeff in teams some screencastified about the benefits of meshing up the ideas to create one game. Some began some prototypes of the games. 



October 12

Both teams began the process of designing and problem solving and constructing their arcade games. It is a long process of designing and creating. They will continue to explore all possibilities of how to iterate and rethink possibilities

We also watched a  recorded Spacewalk in order to value the importance of connectivity and experiencing curiosity.


October 15th

System 2 Thinkers and the JEFF's continue developing creativity,  critical thinking, collaboration and communication when designing and redesigning their interactive cardboard games. The process is very impostant as they learn to problem sove, plan and find solutions with their team. 


October 16th

St.Gabriel Grade 6 students representing the school at the Makers Faire. An experience to meet and greet many people including politicians and communicating bilingually. 



October 17th

System 2 Thinkers and the JEFF have updated their documentation of the process of designing their cardboard games. The JEFF had enough time to iterate and work on their games this afternoon.

October 18th

System 2 Thinkers and the JEFF continue to persevere with the desginign process fo their games. The iteration is paplied to their Google drawing for documentation. The students are required ot refelct on their skills form the 6C's Collaboration, Creativity, Communication and Character. 

October 21st

System 2 Thinkers and The JEFF are done their designing and building their arcade games. They have applied electricity by building open nd closed circuits, Some have also used Makey Makey for their game to be touch interactive and learned how to code. 

Some groups began screencastifying explaining the modification on the design and explaining the construction of the games. 

We will continue with  the writing about the game and reading to analyze the sources of energy in relation to Government carbon tax.

October 24th

The JEFF and the System 2 Thinkers ate reflecting about the skills acquired during the designing process. They will continue with the descriptive and persuasive writing of their games. They are sharing their blog posts with a class from Northern Ontario. The focus for this comng week will be on the writing process.



Octobre 28th

It has been an amazing journey of skill based learning through the design thinking process of constructing the interactive arcade games. All students worked very hard collecting data and marketing their games. They have developed communication perseverance and engagement with the whole school. This coming week students will publish the explanatory and persuasive texts about the games. They will also be analyzing the data they have collected as well as reflecting on the skills that they have acquired during Friday.
